Lord, I’ve come once more to praise you for
The gifts you’ve given me;
A life, a land, a home,
Skies of blue, fields of green.
Now my time is nearly over,
My work is almost done.
So I ask one final favor
At the setting of the sun.
Lord, a creek and a tree is my last request of thee,
That I may rest beside and under throughout eternity.
Let my soul find its salvation as it wings its way to thee,
And let the dust of my remains forever be
Beside and beneath
A creek and a tree.
The creek will be a symbol of
The love you’ve given me;
Ever growing, never slowing,
Always flowing faithfully.
And the tall tree will remind me
Of the strength you’ve always shown,
Standing firm and giving shelter
When life’s cold winds have blown.
Lord, a creek and a tree is my last request of thee,
That I may rest beside and under throughout eternity.
Let my soul find its salvation as it wings its way to thee,
And let the dust of my remains forever be
Beside and beneath
A creek and a tree.
