Between Forever And Goodbye

by Douglas L. Bishop on 10/31/2008 14:28

There’s a songbird

Clinging to a telephone wire

She’s lost her mate

Her heart’s on fire

Too sad to sing

Way too blue to fly

She’s caught

Between forever and goodbye.

There’s a sail-away sparrow

With his own desire

Destined to soar

Higher and higher

Away, away

Leave the sheltering hills behind

Gonna fly away forever

And never even say goodbye.

She says I want you and I need you

And I want you to stay

And I want you to need me

Every night and day

Restore my song

Make me strong enough to fly

Together we’ll soar

Between forever and goodbye.
